The Graduate School offers a number of special programs that provide mentoring, retention and financial support. Such programs provide opportunities to expand and broaden career options, including careers in the professoriate, which encourage and assist students in their pursuit of advanced degrees; particularly in the Ph.D. degree. The Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program provides undergraduates who intend to pursue master's and doctoral degrees with academic enrichment, graduate school preparation through workshops, stipends and other academic resources. The Preparing Future Faculty Program prepares students to enter the professoriate. The Frederick Douglass Scholars Program provides opportunities for academically gifted students who aspire towards attaining the doctoral degree. The Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate Program is designed to increase the production of Ph.D. recipients to become college professors in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through mentoring, scholarship, workshops, and participation in The Preparing Future Faculty Program.
