Gates Cambridge Scholarships

Enables outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge. The Trustees are required to award scholarships on the basis of a person's intellectual ability, leadership capacity and desire to use their knowledge to contribute to society throughout the world by providing service to their communities and applying their talents and knowledge to improve the lives of others.

Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET)

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET) aims to promote international awareness at the local level by inviting young overseas university graduates to assist in international exchange and foreign language education in local governments, boards of education or junior and senior high schools throughout Japan. It seeks to foster ties between Japanese citizens (mainly youth) and JET participants at the person-to-person level. A functional command of the Japanese language is required. Salaries are paid in yen.

The Jacob Javits Fellowship Program

The program provides financial assistance to students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and achievement, exceptional promise, and financial need to undertake graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or Master of Fine Arts (MFA). The Department of Education awards fellowships in selected fields of study of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

The Anna Sobol Levy Fellowship

The Anna Sobol Levy Fellowship program, created by Captain Jerome E. Levy, USNR (z"l) is for U.S. citizens who are graduate students or recent college graduates with leadership potential for the United States in the 21st century. The purpose of this fellowship is to provide future U.S. leaders considering military or government service an opportunity to learn first-hand about the unique relationship between the U.S. and Israel, to master regional politics, culture, and security affairs, and to study foreign languages.

Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. At least forty Scholars are selected each year to study either at graduate or occasionally undergraduate level at an UK institution in any field of study. Each scholarship is held for two years.

George J. Mitchell Scholarships

the George J. Mitchell Scholarships are intended to familiarize and connect the next generation of American leadership with the island of Ireland. These Scholarships support one year of graduate study in any discipline offered by an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Scholars must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program offered at the institution. The Mitchell Scholarship provides tuition, housing, a $12,000 living expenses stipend, and international travel.

Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship

The Department of State seeks a Foreign Service that represents America in world affairs with citizens who reflect the diversity and excellence of our society. The program seeks to recruit talented students in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. The goal is to attract outstanding students from all ethnic, racial and social backgrounds, who have an interest in pursuing a Foreign Service career in the U.S. Department of State.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program

The 2006 Rangel award consists of ten fellowships of up to $28,000 annually towards tuition, room, board, books and mandatory fees for completion of a two-year master's degree. At the conclusion of two years of study, the Rangel Fellow is expected to obtain a degree in international affairs or another area of relevance to the work of the Foreign Service (such as public administration, public policy, business administration, foreign languages, economics, political science, communications) at a graduate or professional school approved by the Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center.
