Intern - RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network)

RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE. We are looking for two communications interns to help our organization this semester as we prepare to launch the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline – the first secure web-based hotline delivering victim services from trained specialists in an easy-to-use instant messenger format. The launch date is tentatively set for April or May of 2006, and we will need help with our promotional efforts. Responsibilities will include:


Duties Include:

• Internet research
• Media database creation and maintenance
• Special events assistance
• Media pitching
• Organizational outreach
• Possibly some writing/correspondence

We need help 10-15 hours a week, beginning immediately and continuing through the spring. If you know of any students who may be interested, please have them email me directly. This is an unpaid, part-time position.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in an office environment
• Interest in women's and/or international issues
• Experience and comfort with word processing, merge letters and databases, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn something new
• Ability to work well with others; comfort answering telephone inquiries
• Sense of humor
