Graduate School Welcomes Exchange Students from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands

 

The Graduate School is pleased to announce the arrival of six graduate exchange students from Utrecht University in the Netherlands . They are all participants in the US-EU Transatlantic Program in Race, Ethnicity and Migration Studies (REMS). They will be on campus from July 1 - August 8 engaged in independent research primarily under the supervision of Dr. Fariyal Ross-Sheriff in the School of Social Work.

 

The students are interested in the following topics:

 

- Economic incorporation of refugees

- Adoption, Negotiation and Validation of hyphenated identities

- Attitudes towards Muslims (US & NL)

- Intergenerational sustainment of transnational activity and community

- Refugee and Immigrant policy

- Issues in practice with immigrants and refugees

 

They will present their projects at a special program on Thursday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m.  (location to be announced).  For more information, contact Dr. Lisa R. Rawlings, REMS coordinator, rems@howard.edu.
