Approximately 50 students from colleges and universities
around the nation are scheduled to attend the Howard
University/University of Texas at El Paso (HUTEP) Alliance
for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) Graduate
Visitation Program from November 15-17, 2007 on the Howard
University campus. The HUTEP initiative is funded by
the National Science Foundation.
The Howard/UTEP Alliance is
designed to increase the number of underrepresented
minorities who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
completing the Ph.D. in STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics) and the SBES (Social,
Behavioral and Economic Sciences) disciplines. It also seeks
to increase the number of individuals in these areas who
wish to pursue careers in the professoriate.
During the visitation,
students will tour the Howard campus, visit laboratories,
interact with faculty and graduate students and experience a
sampling of life at Howard and in Washington DC. All
expenses for travel, lodging, food and social events are
paid by the HUTEP/AGEP Alliance. For more information
on the HUTEP AGEP Alliance program, call 202-806-6800 or
