The
Howard University/University of Texas at El Paso (HUTEP)
Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate will
sponsor a Graduate Visitation Program from November
15-17 2007 on the campus of Howard University in
Washington, DC. The HUTEP initiative is funded by the
National Science Foundation.
The
Howard/UTEP Alliance is designed to increase the number of
underrepresented minorities who are U.S. citizens or
permanent residents completing the Ph.D. in STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the SBES
(Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences) disciplines. It
also seeks to increase the number of individuals in these
areas who wish to pursue careers in the professoriate.
Applicants must be recommended by a faculty member, juniors or seniors and have a minimum
cumulative 3.2 GPA.
During the
visitation, students will tour the Howard campus, visit
laboratories, interact with faculty and graduate students
and experience a sampling of life at Howard and in
Washington DC. All expenses for travel, lodging, food and
social events will be paid by the HUTEP/AGEP Alliance.
The application deadline is October
30, 2007.
To apply,
