| PURPOSE OF THE FORUM: |
|
"The purpose of the forum is to examine the various dimensions of Hurricane Katrina, which include:
-
the historical aspects of Louisiana, physical aspects of Hurricane Katrina,
-
the corresponding response of the government (local, state, and federal), and
-
short-term and long-term implications of the event.
We are especially interested in addressing the student population, many of whom were directly or indirectly impacted and show our unending support now and in the tough days that lie ahead. Hurricane Katrina has taught us many lessons, but from an academic standpoint, it has shown us that only a multidisciplinary approach can address such a crisis. We expect this forum to be only the beginning and would like to continue the discussion and activities through an electronic medium"...Gregory S. Jenkins, Ph.D. |
