            The first meeting of the Steering Committee, Executive Committee and the Work Groups of the Howard University University-Wide Self-Study in preparation for the University's reaffirmation of accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education will convene on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the West Ballroom of the Blackburn University Center.   Light lunches will be provided.

            President Swygert and Provost English are both expected to be in attendance and make remarks at this meeting.  The agenda for the meeting will include the purpose and design of the Self-Study process; the timeline for its preparation; a discussion of the standards set by the Middle States Commission in 14 key areas; and the roles and expectations of the various groups that will be involved in this process.  The Work Groups also will have an opportunity for preliminary conversations.
