Registration

Howard's various colleges and schools, including the Graduate School, have specific registration dates. The Office of the Records and Articulation will forward all necessary information to admitted students in time to permit them to prepare for registration.

All students must register for classes during the period announced in the official University Calendar. Students who fail to register will not be permitted to attend classes, and their names will not appear on official class lists.

Registration materials will be distributed to all new entrants well in advance of the general orientation meeting. Instructions for registration will be given at that time.

Undergraduate students will not be permitted to register for graduate courses without the approval of the appropriate deans.

All students entering the University for the first time and those returning after an absence of one or more semesters are required to submit a completed health examination form (Entrance Medical Record). Students will not be allowed to register for classes if their enrollment and medical forms have not been returned by the announced deadline date. Failure to submit the forms on time may result in a student having to register in person during late registration and having to pay a late fee.

The University reserves the right to deny registration to any student or prospective student who, in the judgment of the officials of the University Health Service, is suffering from a condition of illness that would be inimical to the health of others. In such cases, the recommendation of the University Student Health Center is final.

After their arrival in the Washington area, students must report their local and billing address to the Office of the Records and Articulation by completing the Local Address and Billing Card, which may be obtained from that office. Grades, material for registration, and other materials will be mailed periodically to the student's local address. Failure to maintain a current address with the Office of the Records and Articulation may not be used as an excuse to avoid late registration fees or discharge any other responsibilities the student may have, including the payment of fees.

Specific registration information for new students, transfer students, returning students, and continuing students can be found in Howard's Student Reference Manual and Directory of Classes kept current for each semester in addition to the summer sessions. This manual is distributed by the Office of the Registrar.
