Message from CIRTL Coordinator

Introduction

CIRTL@Howard program offers STEM and other Howard University graduate students a series of courses, workshops, and professional development opportunities in collaboration with the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF), Alliance for Graduate Education for the Professoriate (AGEP), and the CIRTL Network. 

  • Howard University CIRTL program is at the forefront of a national movement of interdisciplinary professional development within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences, and future faculty preparation in collaboration with CIRTL Network Universities.

CIRTL@Howard Program Description

The CIRTL program offers Howard University graduate and post doc students the opportunity to gain critical skills to enhance their instructional delivery, research capacity, hands-on instructional technology skills and extensive professional development opportunities – our offerings are built upon well developed scientific research methodologies.  (http://www.gs.howard.edu/announcements/pr_july6_2006.htm)

CIRTL participants will learn and practice techniques for engaging students in active learning, improve their professional capacity and future placement.

CIRTL@Howard program is for doctoral students with interests in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education enrolled in the sciences and humanities programs and graduate departments. CIRTL@Howard program complements the efforts of the CIRTL project (an NSF funded project that includes Howard University Michigan State University, the University of Wisconsin, University of Colorado-Boulder, Texas A & M University and Vanderbilt University).
