The Sasakawa Young Leaders Foundation Fellowship (SYLFF) is
designed to provide full financial support to outstanding Ph.D.
students admitted to candidacy with a research concentration in
international affairs and/or world peace. The SYLFF fellowship
is merit-based and competitive fellowship offered upon
recommendation by the SYLFF Advisory Committee at Howard
University.
Eligibility Candidates must be advanced to Ph.D.
candidacy with research and career interest in international
affairs and/or world peace. Students must be enrolled full-time
with a minimum GPA of 3.5
Terms: Full tuition (not including student activity
fees) and a stipend of $15,000 for one academic year, renewable
for no more than two years. The fellowship also includes a
research award of up to $2,000 over the two- year period. Up to
$500 of the research award may be used for educational supplies,
and $1,500 for dissertation research related travel expenses.
Application: One original and five copies of the materials
listed below must be submitted to your department chair by
Friday, February 1, 2009.
