Residence Requirements


Following are the degree requirements according to area of specialization.

Counseling and Guidance : 253-240, 253-241, 253-242, 253-243, and 253-344.

Counseling Psychology : 253-240, 253-241, 253-322, 253-344 and 253-440.

Early Childhood Education : 15 credits from the following 251-200, 251-211, 251-262, 251-278, 251-289, 251-290, 251-291, 251-292, 251-293, 251-370, 251-379, 251-390, 251-391, 251-392, 251-394, 251-395, and 251-396.

Educational Administration : 254-282, 254-286, 254-382 and 254-385 or 254-386.

Educational Psychology: 15 credits of courses in Educational Psychology including 253-225, 253-320, and one of the following: 253-318 or 253-325 or 253-328. Students should pursue a balanced program including courses in both learning and human development.

Elementary Curriculum and Instruction (restricted to mathematics/science education emphasis) 15 credits which must include 254-411, 251-276 or 251-284, 251-277, 251-281, 251-393.

Human Development (M.S.)

This degree focuses on developmental processes throughout the life cycle and interpersonal relationships within the context of the family and other human/environmental settings. Students may concentrate in one of two areas of specialization: 1) infancy, childhood and adolescent development or 2) adulthood and aging.

Candidates for this degree must complete a minimum of 34 semester credits and a masters thesis, including 256-300, 256-211, 256-212, 256-213, and 256-214. Specialization, elective and statistics courses are selected in consultation with the student's adviser.

Reading : 251-273, 251-274, 251-371, 251-373, and 251-374. When selecting electives, students should consider certification requirements in the various states.

School Psychology : 12 credits including 253-222, 253-225, 253-322 and 253-329; state certification requirements, which may vary from state to state, should be considered when planning the degree program.

Secondary Curriculum and Instruction : 251-275, 251-370, 251-378, 251-379 and 9 credits in the teaching subject area or a related content field selected in consultation with the adviser.

Special Education : 251-260, 251-265, 251-266, 251-267, and 251-274,251-264.

Supervision Specialization : 254-280, 254-282, 254-284, 254-384, 251-275, 251-370, and 251-379.
