Greetings Fellow Graduate Students:

It is indeed a pleasure to welcome you to Howard University and to our beloved graduate community. On behalf of the Graduate Student Council (GSC), welcome to the Mecca. What an exciting time to be in Washington, DC and to have the experience of developing your scholarship at Howard University! I wish you much success as you begin and/or continue your graduate education.

Let me encourage you to become actively involved and fully engaged in your graduate experience. First and foremost, I encourage you to become stewards in your respective disciples. Commit to finding new knowledge and transforming that knowledge into your writings and teaching. Secondly, take full advantage of the quality programs and cultural activities that are offered within the graduate community. I assure you, this will aid in having a more fulfilling and rewarding experience throughout your matriculation.

The GSC is comprised of 34 schools/department under the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Our aim is to foster a sense of community by sponsoring social, as well as content-driven events, providing financial support for students and student organizations, and supporting college-wide Initiatives that directly impact the graduate student demographic.
We have planned a number of quality events and programs with you in mind this academic year. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and general body meetings. Should you need assistance or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 202.806.5540 or hugsc0809@gmaill.com or gsc@howard.edu.
