Goals of the Program

 

The goals of the Retention, Mentoring, and Support Program are to:

  1. provide the structure for an organized, well-designed program of mentoring and retention that will improve the quality of life for students in the Graduate School at Howard University
  2. reduce attrition;
  3. reduce time to degree;
  4. provide opportunities for fellowships and internships; and
  5. enhance career and professional development.

To achieve its goals, the Retention Mentoring Program works directly with peer mentors, graduate faculty, and graduate program directors to provide information, mentoring, recognition, role models, funding and other resources necessary to ensure the success of its graduate students.
