In the first activities of a newly formed collaborative partnership
between Howard University and the United States Food and Drug
Administration (FDA), Mark B. McClellan, M.D., Ph.D., Commissioner, and
Lester M. Crawford, D.V.M., Ph.D., Deputy Commissioner, will lecture at
the university on September 22 and October 22, respectively.
Both lectures will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Howard University
Hospital Towers Auditorium.
Howard
University and the FDA have established a collaborative
relationship through which both institutions will share scientific
progress and resources involving human and animal health and medicine in
diverse fields of science.
Under the terms
of the collaboration, the FDA will provide Howard with resources and/or
opportunities for sabbaticals, postdoctoral fellowships, student
internships, and/or other research or training programs that involve
joint Howard and FDA research interests and scientific objectives.
Howard University graduate and professional students will be able to
participate in FDA student programs. The collaboration will also involve
FDA scientists and staff visits to relevant Howard programs and
laboratories.
