Utrecht University
Located in the heart of the Netherlands , Utrecht University is firmly founded on tradition. Utrecht University , which recently celebrated its 365th anniversary, has developed into one of Europe 's largest and most prominent institutes of research and education. With 47 Bachelor's programmes and 162 Master's programmes, Utrecht University offers the broadest spectrum of disciplines available in the Netherlands , innovative research and liaises with universities and research centres all over the world. In the organization of the university's teaching and research, quality is the key. The curricula of Utrecht 's international Master's programmes are internationally oriented – a must for scientists and scholars in an increasingly globalized world. Because of the different nationalities and cultural backgrounds of the students, they are trained to work in an international environment from the start.
Utrecht University hosts around 25,000 students, in 108 academic programmes: 45 Bachelor's programmes, 43 Master's programmes, 1 Medicine programme, 1 Veterinary Medicine programme and 18 IVLOS teacher training programmes. In 2003, 412 PhDs were granted, and the n umber of research institutes coordinated by Utrecht University is 23, among which the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations, which is directly involved in the REMS project.
